Geranium Trio

Who doesn't love a geranium? Growing up, I remember my mother always had the most magnificent ones blooming in her south-facing picture window. They were true workhorses, flowering all year long regardless of the weather outside. When I married and finally had a home of my own, I vowed to fill it with that same vibrant life.

When we moved into our current home in 1998, the previous owner left behind three geraniums in the sunroom. Planted in simple terra cotta pots, they were gangly and scraggly—clearly showing their age. I didn't have the heart to toss them out; instead, I was determined to bring them back to their former glory.

Those three plants stayed with me for years and years, living a long, happy life in their familiar surroundings. This painting is a tribute to those "workhorses"—a celebration of the plants that bridge the gap between the people who lived here before and the family we built within these walls.
