Wine Time

They often tell writers to "write what they know," and I find the same advice holds true for my art work.  I paint what I know—and I know the joy of a hydrangea in full bloom. Whether they are gathered in my yard or spilling over the sides of a terracotta pot, those whites, pinks, and blues (my personal favorite) have always provided such wonderful inspiration for me.  

I also know the simple pleasure of a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc on the back terrace after a busy day. It’s that perfect window of time spent catching up with my husband, my family, or a close friend.

While this painting, Wine Time, depicts a simple plant and a bottle to share, to me it embodies so much more. It captures the "golden hour"—when the sun hangs low, the air is still warm, and the evening stretches out ahead of us, meant to be savored at a leisurely pace. I envisioned this card to be used for the notes that match that mood: the easy "hellos" and the heartfelt "thank yous" that carry the warmth of a shared summer moment.
