About the Artwork

Birdie Treats

Turkeys walking in Janet Lee Chauncey's yard with snow on the ground, trees and a gazebo in the background.

Similar to a game of Name That Tune, our mother liked to see if she could get her point across in the fewest notes possible—stripping away the clutter and allowing the viewer to fill in the details.

The inspiration for Birdie Treats came directly from her kitchen window. While enjoying her morning tea, Janet would often spot a flock of turkeys emerging from the woods to cross the snowy field. Captivated by their progress, she would follow them from room to room, peering out different windows until they finally waddled out of sight. Her favorite view was watching them gather under the apple tree, pecking through the snow for delicious morsels.

We created this card to share the wonder that can be found right outside your own window—if you just have a look.
