About the Artwork

Trail Blazer

Our mother was a truly dedicated athlete—when she fell in love with a sport, she fell hard. When she discovered cross-country skiing, she became a fixture on the snowy trails of Peru, Vermont. Her dedication was so intense that when the season ended, she bought a high-end ski machine and clocked 10k every single day—until she realized she had skied so much on that machine she could barely walk!

She wisely decided to cut back on the 'dry land' training so she could save her strength for the real thing and continued to enjoy those favorite, hilly Vermont trails for years to come. This illustration captures Janet's 'all-in' energy and her joyful obsession with the winter landscape—a tribute to the athlete who never wanted the season to end.

In honor of her feisty dedication to get on her skis every chance she could, we call this the 'Trail Blazer'. This pouch is designed for those who, like Janet, are always ready for the next snow trail or aprés-ski aperitif.
